Game of Thrones Project

A different cookie for each house!

Leading up to the Game of Thrones final season I received some pretty cool GOT themed cookie cutters from a friend. Since Game of Thrones is so epic I had to go all out and make a different cookie or biscuit for each house. It was a massive undertaking but so fun thinking of what ingredients represent each house. For Stark, I went with classic rosemary and thyme. Those flavors are tried and true, the same way I think the Starks are represented in GOT. For Targaryen, I spiced it up with jalapeno, cumin and chili powder. Their biscuit had to be hot to represent all the fire. Greyjoy was the last savory biscuit and I kept it simple with almond flour and salt and pepper. The ironborn don’t indulge in excessiveness and over the top flavors; keeping it plain felt appropriate.

On the cookie side, I made a simple brown butter cookie for Baratheon. The rich flavor of brown butter is paralleled by the rich history of the Baratheon house and how large of a role their family has played in this story. Lannister’s are lemons! They’re tart and sticky and will stab you in the back, so I made a tart lemon sugar cookie...and there’s a little bit of alliteration ;) Finally the last cookie is Tyrell. Since their sigil is a flower I made a really delicious rosewater sugar cookie! I think this was my favorite one over all. The cookie stamp didn’t turn out very well but the flavor was amazing.

I hope all of you are just as excited and scared for this final season of Game of Thrones as I am! I’ve loved doing this project and diving deeper into this book and tv series that is so great. If you don’t watch the show or haven’t read the books I highly recommend them. And get these fun cookie cutters! Or use these recipes with your own favorite cookie cutters. Enjoy :) *Game of Thrones theme song*
