Hazelnut butter (+ banana bread)

Making your own hazelnut butter, or any type of nut butter, could not be easier.

One of my biggest overall grocery expenses is definitely peanut butter. I eat it sometimes with my breakfast, as a snack, and occasionally in my peanut sauce ;) I love it. So, when I lucked out and received a big bag of hazelnuts from a friend I had to make hazelnut butter! All it takes is roasting the raw nuts, removing the skin, and throwing them in a food processor. I have the tiniest food processor and it handled it very well.

I couldn’t have hazelnut butter without something delicious to spread it on so I also made banana bread. This is Hummusapien Blog’s Vegan Banana Bread recipe! And she hit the nail on the head. I used coconut sugar in place of cane sugar and it worked out great. Her blog is amazing and definitely aspirational for me. And on top of that she’s a multi-restaurant owner!! 2 cups raw hazelnuts

Pinch of salt


1. Preheat oven to 275 degrees F. Spread hazelnuts on baking sheet in a single layer.

2. Bake for 10-12 minutes checking to make sure they aren’t burned, they should smell fragrant. Allow to cool.

3. Wrap in dish towel and rub to get the skins off.

4. Place in food processor with a pinch of salt and process until smooth butter forms! You’ll have to stop a few times to scrape down the sides. Spread on banana bread or eat with a spoon!
